College Confidential: Applications... Where it all begins

9:30 AM

OLO MA BEANS!! Guess why yo girl is hyped... She just finished all of her college applications and so she has a few experiences to share with all of you youngsters out there. I am pretty proud of how I did not procrastinate and happy with the application process, so let's get started...

  1. Start Early: This is what you probably hear every time you ask a Senior about college apps. I started all my apps in June when the prompts came out. Even then, I ended up turning in the weekend before apps were due. Give yourself plenty of time to edit. The system might crash if you procrastinate. Apparently this year two days before UC apps were due, the system crashed.
  2. Talk to a Professional about Your Essays: Find a college counselor. I know that not everyone can afford someone like this and that these college counselors might be a bit pricey but from my experience first I did not have to pay for a college counselor (I will link the post later) and he was the one who helped me the most. Here is why I recommend one: first, they do this for a living, so they probably know what they are doing. Second, it's another person to look at your essays and help you edit.
  3. Find a few people who have gone through the college application process to help you edit essays. They have already been through the process, so they have some idea on what college want. In addition, since they are already in college, they have more experience with writing essays.
  4. Check your application twice before turning it in. I learned this the hard way, as I forgot to change one of my courses. The thing is I did not know that my second semester history class is another class until after I turned in my apps, so I have to call both Common App and UC system to change it.
  5. If you are a Junior and you qualify for SAT fee waiver, get the fee waiver. This is actually a life saving tip, because of this SAT fee waiver, I saved money on sending in my scores. With the fee waiver, scores to four colleges are free.
  6. Research about the school. You want to know whether you like the student life, the campus, and the program there rather than just applying to a school with a prestigious name. It will definitely help you in the future because this is the only way you can passionately write about why you want to go to that specific college.
  7. Turn in apps around a week before the due date. This will allow you to work out any issues with the application.
  8. Ask for help. If you ever need help with applications or have questions about anything, go and email your counselors at school, they are there to help you and if you are ever confused. Feel free to email me. I'm always open to 8K of y'all.
Honestly, don't feel so intimidated by this process. Everything is actually not as complicated. Just breath and it will be over before you know it. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

College Confidential: What You Should You Do BEFORE Essays

9:30 AM

I have two college counselors looking out for me right now and I gotta say... They give some pretty solid advice. Since y'all are family, let me tell you what I have learned...

  1. Choose your colleges: Do not choose the colleges for the prestige, choose it for your major. When picking your dream school(s) make sure you like the students and environment there.
  2. Create a college list: This is basically a list of colleges you want to attend. Make sure that it matches up to the major you select.
  3. Create a spreadsheet: On the spreadsheet there should be the tuition of the college, deadlines, what type of application software they use (UC or Common App), the link to the application requirements.
  4. List of awards/honors and any volunteer services you have done in the past: Make sure you only put down the awards you've earned since high school. DO NOT LIE ON THIS PART!! I know it's tempting but if colleges find out, then you are burnt toast.
  5. Supplements: If your college uses Common Apps then they probably have essay questions that are specific to their college. Don't forget these!!
  6. Now you are set to go on your essays!!
I hope this have helped you because this is all of the information I did not know until I asked around. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

Last Day of School: A Great Thank You

8:00 PM

OLO ma beans!! Well I have just finished Junior year today. I have ended this year with a 3.83 GPA!!! SOMEONE HOLLA AT ME!!! I know it's not the best GPA (aka 4.00) but if you know the situation that I'm stuck in (aheemmm the hardest math teacher in the school) then you would congratulate me... But since y'all are all my fans I need you to congratulate me... #YouNeedToSupportMeBecauseYouLoveMe

Since it is the last day of school, I want to thank a few people... First, I have someone special I need to thank which is this senior in my APES class. He came to find me three times to get his yearbook signed but because I was so brain dead I couldn't write anything meaningful. I mean my brain is still dead, but I can at least say what I want to say now. I'm not sure if you are going to read this but hey there... Thank you for letting me bother you at 3 am in the morning, then at like 2 am, and then at 1 am. Then sending me your essays and your applications when I needed them even though I didn't get into any of them. You stayed patient with me even though I bothered you really late about helping my friend with math. Then giving me advice about college. You're awesome dude and you're gonna do so well in college.
The second person I want to thank is my best friend. You helped me do my homework without anything complains when I was stressing and stayed by my side even though I know I'm really negative. You let me rant to you sometimes be mean to you just so I can be happy and honestly I can't ask for anyone better to share this friendship with for the past 5 years. The last person I want to thank is my Desdemona (inside joke). He literally helped me edit an essay for THREE HOURS and then helped me with math questions. You are going to do so great in the future with your kind heart and college. I honestly think you shouldn't hang out around me because my personality is not the best. These people has made it possible for me to survive this year. I honestly cannot wait until next year where all my hard work will pay off. Now time for yoga class, until next time stay cool ma beans!!

College Confidential: I'M GOIN TO COLLEGE

9:00 AM

OLO ma beans... Pretty late last night, I realized that I have missed the one year anniversary of my blog... It was on March 20th. So whooohooo it has been one year and I've already accumulated so many of you!! Can't believe it's has already been one year. I'm probably going to have a really late celebration during summer.

Now I'm on my way to apply for college. You are about to embark on one of the mos exciting but torturous experience a student can go through. The past 16 years of my life is defined during the next 5 months. And yes, I have a late birthday, so when I am in college I am still 17 so that means for the first two months if I find a boyfriend older than me then it's illegal... and I won't be able to drink until I graduate college... I still remember strolling with my grandfather in China talking about moving out when I'm 18. Everything I've worked for is defined by one or more pieces of paper. Since I'm starting another subsection in my life, I want start another series that will go on every time I make a discovery about the college applying process or passed another level on the college applying process. I want to help all of those who are going to apply for college in the future and show everyone how I survived one of the most competitive high schools in the nation. Until next time, stay cool ma beans!!

artist

Officially Published

9:00 AM

I don't think I can be happier. Being a published artist has always been a hidden goal of mine. I say hidden because I never thought it is going to be possible. And today that somehow managed to happen. I am now an officially published artist. The statement "When one door closes another door opens." is true after all. After being rejected from two school teams, I thought I was the problem. Somehow, being passionate in everything I do doesn't get me anywhere. But I'm wrong, I have worked 14 years to where I am now. Now at the age of 16, my artwork has been published. I would not have traded this for any of those academic team acceptances.

It's not all happiness and rainbows though. Sometimes I don't feel like telling anyone about my art because I don't want to brag or come off as arrogant because of what I do. I feel like the more awards accumulate, the less I want to share it with people because sometimes these things are no longer big enough for other people to care about. For example, I fake when other people are successful when I'm actually jealous and bitter because I'm not as good but I'm afraid that people are going to do that to me too. I hope that for those of my friends who are reading this, realize that I'm just trying to share one of my achievements with you and I didn't mean to brag. I hope there are more great things to come with my art and I haven't came up with another goal yet... But when I do, ma beans please be there to support me. Until next time, stay cool ma beans!

Weekend Happenings: When Life Give You Lemons

8:30 AM

Life doesn't give you free stuff... It just doesn't. But I'm a bit better than life so I am giving you guys double posts this week since I'm going log off for AP testing season. Basically see you all in June. Just kidding more like the last week of May... That's not much better... So AP testing season is coming so I'm studying for AP tests along with my other school work. Since I decided to be a tryhard this year, I have three AP tests to study for. And also my math grade is a C right now and if I want to go to my first choice college, I am going to need to get that to a B. Which is kind of scary since there are only around 5 tests left. My mind shrivels up just thinking about it. I really hope ma bean army can wait until I return in June for Project Inspiration Part II and this year I have a great line up for this blog. Follow me on Twitter for hints as time counts down. I have really appreciated everyone for following me around in my crazy life this school year. The last thing I can do for everyone before the end of my Junior year is to end with double posts everyday and some inspirational stuff here and there. If ma beans miss me too much, shoot me a email or follow me on Twitter and Instagram to be kept up on my daily life. I have so much planned for the summer and Senior year. I am so grateful for each and one of you. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

Don't miss me too much ma beans

WTF Wednesday: 2.5 GPA and Sadies??

9:00 AM

Alrighty, MY GPA JUST DROPPED TO A 2.5 average. Am I in a state of panic?? Heck yes. Am I going to do something about it?? Heck yes!! I already emailed my teacher so hopefully, I'm praying that I will be okay... I swear because of high school I might become religious.

The whole thing is basically my fault and also the lady who has the same email in gmail as my Chinese teacher. What happen was that I was suppose to email a project to my teacher, but then I typed in ".gmail" instead of the school email, so obviously my teacher did not get my project. OKAY update: My GPA has returned to normal and she accepted my assignment! YAY!!
This was a video project where I have to post my video on YouTube and then share the link with her before 3:00 pm. SO THANK THE GPA GODS THAT THERE IS A SUCH THING CALLED A TIME STAMP. Literally if I did not have that time stamp, I would be sobbing because I would not have proof and basically I'm going to fail the class. I might be a bit dramatic since there are only three grades in there but dudes... The Asian logic is that even one grade matters in the whole picture. I will continue to update this post as the day goes by to see whether she is willing to give me points for the video or not.

YES THE NEXT TOPIC IS SADIES. For those of y'all in other countries, basically sadies is a dance where the girl asks the guy to the dance. So am I gonna ask someone? VERY VERYYYY slim chance. Like slimmer than Sehun's arms. You see, the guys that I like are either all in Korea (some might be on tours in other countries), across the country, too far away to drive here, or dating someone. Speaking of dating, I wanted to check out the guys at my first choice college... You know for potential dates and I did find this super cute guy, he's athletic and smart. TOTALLY MY TYPE... But then, I decided to scroll to past 77 weeks ago and then I liked that picture. Well, I'm now scarred for life... I'm paying the price for stalking... This is seriously a public service announcement because be really careful when stalking people on any form of social media. Until next time, stay cool ma beans. PS... Can y'all just casually pray for my grade right now?? Thanks...
Your laptop have just been blessed...

AP class

WTF Wednesday: I am a minority in my AP Class...

9:00 AM

OLO ma beans!!! I've been getting some comments and emails addressing the fact that I'm not posting much.... And that I need to rant more!!! My explanation for why I haven't been posting will be on a separate post probably up tomorrow....

BUT I HAVE RANTS!! LOADS OF THEM!!! AND I'M SO GLAD THAT YOU LIKE THEM AND REQUEST THEM!!! So today I have a classroom rant... I feel you AP students out there!!! So apparently I'm a Junior now.. So hard to belief that just yesterday I was a Freshman. As you know... AP teachers are very important because you might ask them for recommendation letters. OHHOOOHOOOOHOOOO!!! ALL I kid you not... ALL of my AP teachers hates me. Let's not even talk about last year's AP Bio teacher. Let's just talk about this year's AP English teacher. Holy moly. I swear every AP teacher only cares about the top two people of the class. Sure they stand out but what about average people like me and you???
She won't even CONSIDER writing rec letters for me because I am "average". You know what else pisses me off?? The fact that she is constantly praising the top two students of the class and ignoring other students. Honestly we need more praise than them because that is all they get. Speaking of AP classes, I share my APES class with Seniors and apparently my teacher thought that it would be hilarious if I was sitting with a table FULL of Seniors. This is second semester... Literally as long as they pass the class they will be happy, while me on the other hand. I still have ONE FULL YEAR OF WORRYING in front of me. I want to go to a good college not a semi good college. Do these teachers understand that?? Juniors should sit with Juniors and Seniors with Seniors. If there are successful business people out there please remember me because I might work as the Janitor in your company in the future. Remember to give me promotions. I wanted to target the one percent people in this post but I think they deserve a second one. Until next time stay cool ma beans.
Here is a calming GIF to keep you going

Double T

Double T: I've Hit Rock Bottom Once More

9:00 AM

I don't feel like writing a WTF Wednesday because nothing is more WTF worthy than my attitude towards life. Here is the thing, I've had three test today and I believe I failed all three of them. You don't understand, I just raised my AP Environmental Science grade to a 91% and now because of this midterm (WHICH BY THE WAY IS NOT EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER) could possibly drop to what I call the "death zone"... 88-89%.

You know why it's the "death zone"?? It's because it is super hard for you to raise it up and super easy to drop this percentage to a point where you can no longer raise it. I have a 88% in AP English and I raised my grade from a 88% in APES into 91%. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH EFFORT THIS TOOK?? I think school should grade everyone based on the amount of effort they put into studying. For example, I suck at every single subject possible but I put in the work, so I should get an A. It. Is. Literally. That. Simple. Why am I getting a B+ when someone who does not even try gets A+s.
Excuse me for being pissy. I don't want to complain about my Honors U.S. History class but I think I have to. In that class, yes I do have a 97% BUT today on the test. I got 3/30 correct for the fill in the blank part. She wanted us. To. Know. The "popular" cities in EACH STATE!! HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CITIES YOU CONSIDER POPULAR?? I CANNOT READ YOUR MIND!! It's not like only I failed but the rest of the class did too. In addition (wow look at me using fancy transition words), she didn't even tell us about knowing all the rivers and monuments AND YET SHE TESTED IT!! Excuse me while I go stab myself multiple times with a blunt fork. I want to improve but I think I don't put in enough effort. Why do I not put in the effort when I could? Because with all honesty, I don't care. With my grades and SAT scores right this second, I could get into UCSD guaranteed so why should I try? "I should try just because" is no longer a good enough reason for me to try in school. People go to school to learn, I go to school because I have to. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

Weight Loss Challenge Part 2: Week 2

9:00 AM

Here is something funny...

Remember when I was ranting about hating Jihyo from Twice?? Well... I literally just found out today that I'm the same height AND weight as this girl. I no longer feel realllyyy fat. Yea I know she is one of the "chubbier" idols but AT LEAST SHE DEBUTED!! So I feel pretty proud right now that I'm the same weight as her. Maybe because of this... I don't hate her as much.... I'm sorry that I skipped a few weeks on this challenge but I literally cannot focus on my diet while working out 2 AP projects, 5 AP/Honors class homework, and studying for a midterm next Monday.
Here is what I don't get... Midterm was 3 weeks ago and now my AP Environmental teacher wants to have a random 10 chapter test?? Yes I've seen worse in AP Biology but I took this AP class because I thought it was easy... ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ WhY Is LIfE sO DifFicuLt?? I will continue this during Thanksgiving (I highly doubt that my diet will work but it's worth a try). Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

P.S.
I'm going to log off for the first two days of next week so I will reply to all ma beans' comments when I get back from my midterm... Also feel free to contact me through the little boxes under my profile picture... I love to hear from you!! (♥ω♥ ) ~♪
I really like Luhan lately... He's like a little Bambi
Deer hooman that is crossed with a fairy... That was
the weirdest thing I've said this whole day...

I'LL MAKE IT UP TO YOU GUYS!! I PROMISE!

9:54 PM

First three days of Junior year and it has already been the most hectic three days of my life. I did not have any time to post, so I'm not even going to try to schedule them and lie to myself that I posted those on that day. I sleep around 6-7 hours everyday, relying on my stored up energy and my horribly messed up circadian rhythm. So far, two of my classes have involved nothing but bonding activities, and the others are just filled with work and more work. I went through a extreme depression last night, where I was having suicidal thoughts and I just felt like I've lost all my purpose because I couldn't possibly get a 4.00 GPA this semester... BUT FEAR NOT!! BECAUSE I GOT ABOUT 3 TUTORS AND 2 FOR AP ENGLISH AND 1 FOR SATS!! SO YAYAYAYYAY!! Not really. Again... This is just a warning at all of the posts that will be coming your way because I haven't spoke to you guys in a while. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

Mind Talks: Those Nights of Rainfall

10:26 PM

I've always had this feeling while I am driving back at night and sees the lights of city from below or when it's raining outside. Since it's pretty gloomy outside, I want to share with you guys something that I've never told anyone before, because I was afraid that they won't be able to understand, but I hope that what I'm saying is relatable to you.

During vacations and breaks, my family travels all around CA, and we would often drive back home at night. Often we would drive back from somewhere at a higher elevation, so we would often see the city lights down below. I would be listening to calming music whether it would be KPop or English songs... I really don't know. I just think that everything at that moment is perfect. Nothing could disturb the happiness and perfection that I feel. I feel like I am living in a drama, and someone is waiting for me at home. This feeling disappears soon after when I arrive at home, and realize that the following day I would have to go back to school but it's still my favorite feeling in the world. This is also why I love the drive to the airport because there are lights everywhere, and whenever I'm on that high way, I know that either someone is coming home or I'm leaving to another new destination. It's silly I know, but sometimes I like to imagine KDrama scenes with lights and moonlit picnics while listening to the perfect theme song to my life during the car ride. It's absolutely the most perfect ending to a trip or to anything really. I try to match the song to my mood at that time, and that song just takes me into my own KDrama, where I'm the lead.
On rainy days, I enjoy staying at home with a book and reading for the whole day or go outside to a coffee shop and just sit until my mom picks me up. I can hear the rain dropping and I'm feeling super warm and fuzzy... It's the best feeling in the world.
I would feel that at any second, my friends would call me and we would talk about everything and anything in the world and just have a blast at home. When I'm outside in my super cute outfit, it's another feeling of perfection, that feeling that only the things I do matter, and the rest of the world just melts away with whatever I'm drinking. The air smells super clean, and it's just one of those things that cleans your mind and your soul.
I've always had the idea of an ideal place where I will meet my fate, and I think that by experiencing these feelings with someone that you love is the best thing in the world. I want these feelings to never disappear. Next time while you are traveling or just on a rainy day, try to experience what I have experienced and tell me that you don't love it. Until next time, stay cool ma beans.

Q&A Thursday: Get ready with me...

9:27 AM

I watched like ten YouTube videos about "getting ready" for the day, but never once could I related to the video since no one freaking have time to put on make up after PE class nor do I have any of the clothing that the YouTuber has, so let's see how I get ready.
Q: Do you wear make up?
A: Okay, so I sleep at like 1:30 am every day, so when I look really tired and my eyes looks like cats squinting... I would wear white eyeliner at the corner of my eyes and blend it out to make me look more awake. I learned this trick from this online this Facebook post.

Q: Do you ever find your outfits the night before?
A: Uh... Okay I tried to do this like a few times but it never worked out because first of all CA has the craziest weather in the world, so like there is a high chance that the weather you see the night before is not the same as the weather the next day.
Q: What's your process in the morning.
A: I wake up every day at like 7 so like I use ten minutes to do everything that involves cleaning myself. So I would brush my teeth, wash my face, and then put on contacts. YAY!! I'm done!!
Q: What face wash do you use?
A: If you watch a lot of YouTube like me, Clean Clear always have those "teen" commercials talking about their face wash. Yea I am currently using that and I really think that the Clean Clear wakes me up. I guess it's a mind set... Like after I use this, I would think that I am awake... Or am I????
Q: What do you wear on a daily basis?
A: Okay so, I usually just wear T-shirt and shorts during the summer. My favorite outfit though is probably a plaid shirt with short shorts and a white tank top. It's super cute and it hides my fat. During the winter, I just wear a shirt with a jacket. I usually wear a different scarf for every single day of the week, and I try to match my scarf with my outfit.

Q: How many pairs of shoes do you have?
A: These questions are getting off topic... LOL... Idk actually lol... I have lucky red Vans, a pair of black Converse high tops. I have four different pairs of flip flops because I love them... And I wear them with leggings. Since my feet are like size 4 kids, I wear children flats and boots. My favorite pair is my black combat books.
Q: Do you take naps?
A: YES!! I take 1 hour nap when I go home everyday after school. It's getting ahead on sleep, so I can sleep later at night. LOL

Deep Thoughts Monday: Popularity

9:00 AM

Ever since the first steps into kindergarten, popularity ruled the school. Your social status is pre-determined by the people around you, those who speaks louder, and dress nicer than you. Today, ladies and gentlemen, lets discuss about something that everyone can relate to, popularity. Let me begin this with a story. In my grade, this girl is actually from my English class, around the second week into this school year, she left to another country to compete in a distant singing competition. Let us call her, R. Before I go on, let me give you some background on this girl. She won the sixth grade talent show at our school, and she is well known in high school for her singing, but of course, like any other popular girl with a talent, she did not join chorus all because she surpassed them all. She was in marching band though, and sometimes posted videos of her on Facebook. Moving on to her personality, I've had her in my seventh grade math class, she was nice, but I never got to really know her, so I can't say anything to judge her... Until now... When she left, the whole school, especially her best friends began to follow this singing competition, as the rounds went on, and more and more people were eliminated, she made it to top six. Her voice was absolutely amazing, but it wasn't good enough. She was eliminated. And so, last Friday, she flew back to our school, missing one full year of her Sophomore year and with a new arrogant attitude that she is above everyone. When she lost, she reactivated her Facebook, and followed some people that she unfollowed. We can refer to her as popular. The school was buzzing with her arrival, someone even told me about how hot she looks now. When the thing was, no one noticed her before she became "famous" in other words popular. Artistic Saturday

Artistic Saturday: Our Ocean Our Trash

8:07 PM

Welcome to Artistic Saturday where I share my most recent piece of artwork. This one is titled: Our Ocean Our Trash. It's almost the summer, so I was thinking about the beach and everything, and of course there is a story to go with this. As I began this art work a few weeks ago, it was not only to enter another competition, but it was rather out of anger. In my high school, it is completely filled with clubs of all sizes and shapes, the most famous ones being of course: Key Club and Interact who charges about $1,000 for a membership. Of course exaggerating. Like why am I paying for volunteer hours? Well anyways, I am a part of this super cute animal club. You must think that all we do is promote animal welfare and all that... Well, we do much, much, much less than that. Instead of disapproving animal testing, we are supporting cancer research, which is basically animal testing. Don't get me wrong, I am also a part of the helping to cure cancer club in my school, but this is not what this club is suppose to be supporting. Anyways, since I was an active member last year in this animal club, I had the greatest chance to become an officer of the club. I became the only Sophmore officer in that club. Instead of having one president, we have two co-presidents who one is too busy to care about this little club and another who only cares about her senior boyfriend. That leaves the officers with a silent secretary, a wannabe track girl, and these two girls who became officers because we didnt have anyone running for those positions. This club went from an 8/10 t0 a -1/10...Check out the rest of the story on my website!
