back to school

Summer Mondays: I'll Miss You

9:00 AM

Dear My Favorite Person,
It's getting closer to back to school, so I might not see you that often anymore or much at all. I want to say thanks on this blog of mine that I've never told you about. You might never read find it and never know how awesome you've been, but I just wanted to remember you. We met on the second day of my internship. You were a patient, and I was the assistant. I was new and I helped you check in, it turned out that you bought the "package" and that means you'll only be there about seven more times before you don't need the treatments anymore. Dr. W was on his lunch break when you came before your appointment time. You asked me about how I got the internship, which TV shows I liked, and why I wanted to study medicine. You knew more about me than some of my friends does after thirty minutes. I thought that I would never see you again, because each appointment times were different but you came every Saturday after that week at the same time. Not only that but you would buy me lunch. Literally anyone who gives me food is someone that I become fast friends with. I never told you how much my summer has sucked with all the homework and not being able to go anywhere, and because of you I had something to look forward to during the weekend. I wouldn't trade you for all the fluffy chickens in the world. Thanks man for being my food buddy, a good friend, wonderful humorous entertainer, human alarm clock, and so much more just for this summer. You made me live my Saturdays like an adult who has a job and yet she still gets to hang out with her coworker at the same time. I had loads of fun sharing my work space with you and thanks for changing the music whenever I get too sleepy. I hope your back gets better. Until next time, stay cool ma beans and I'll miss you loads.

advice for parents

Dear Parents

9:53 AM

Dear Parents from All Over the World,
Most of you guys have no idea what's going on in school with your children, so I'm here to give you a little insight on the time period during your child's teenage years. Before high school, please don't pressure your kids to do well because in reality it does not help the child at all in high school. Colleges don't care about the middle school records, so by putting pressure on your child, you can only get a stressed child. Once in high school, during Freshman year try to understand the transition, and try to sit down with your child to plan out their 4 years. My mother did this with me, so it made me feel less stressed for the future, and it set out a path for me that is flexible. As a freshman, it is overwhelming to walk into such a big school and be in a class with no one that you know, so cool down a bit, and don't get on their case. It's a pretty chill year, and colleges don't look at your freshman year either, so don't worry about it. When sophomore hits, you need to understand that your child is going to sleep around 11-12 or one or two hours after their original bed time. You might think that they are tired, and yea they are, but once your body's circadian rhythm matches up, then they will no longer feel tired. This is what happened to me. My mom would often tell me to sleep early, however that is just no longer possible because this year matters a lot. Get ready for a hard working year. Listen to your child when they complain instead of telling them to stop complaining because this year is even more of a bigger transition from middle school to high school because this year, pressure is on in school to join more clubs, school activities, and joining academic teams. Sit down every year with your child and ask them what they are planning on doing. Every student should be in an academic team, at least 2-3 clubs, have a stable volunteer event, and a officer position. Once you get this package you will need to make sure that they know something other kids does not know how to do. My parents would often question me on why I'm doing so many different things, well, I want to do something great with my life that makes an impact, and I'm sure that your child does too, so support what ever they do (not drugs and bad stuff), they need it. Lastly don't forget to boost their self confidence whenever you can just because you don't know what is going on. Until next time, see ya parents.

XOXO,
A

Flashback Friday: Back to When I Cared

9:30 AM

Dear the guys that USED to like,

Hey you, the curly haired boy that I liked in second grade. I was too shy to talk to you, so I just silently watched you like a creep. See, I didn't even learn your name. You will forever be known as my first crush.

Hey you blue eyed cousins that sanwiched me in third grade. B, you were the best right hand seat partner ever because you stayed in during recess to help me with my spelling homework while I impressed you with my math skills. R, I seriously didn't know that B and you are cousins and you are the best left hand seat partner ever because when you saw me at the park, you hide and seek with me.

What's up C, the guy who had a crush on my best friend. You basically became the heart throb in fourth grade and everyone flounced near you, even guys. You were basically the perfect bundle back then. You were good at sports, had a nice face, and super smart. When I moved, I still managed to remember you. But do you know what a jerk you are? I messaged you being the naive me in seventh grade asking you if you happened to remember me when you moved to the same school as me. I didn't do that because I still liked you, I did that because I wanted someone that knows my past. Instead of replying, "I don't remember." You didn't say anything.

Hey there, the guy that looked into my eyes in fifth grade. I know that you liked me, even though I pretended that I didn't know. One of your friends actually told me. You are super funny and I remembered that you drew me everyone that lived in your house once in math class. Remember when you tried to impress me? You told me that you could drive your uncle's truck. Most of all, I want to thank you for being a part of my story that got someone else in trouble.

Oh lord, hey cheating buddy of sixth grade. I guess this nick name is a inside joke. I never really figured out how or why I liked you for that time period of a week. Now that I think back, it is because we have a lot in common. You told me many things that you wouldn't tell your friends, and we were close, but not that close. The distance is what made the relationship work. I'm glad that we still are friends.

Hey seventh grade cutie. A new bad boy arrived in school and that's you. I guess I didn't like you for your personality, it was because you wore a clean pressed light blue shirt on the first day of school. I was hoping that I would sit next to you in class but you were one seat away. I like you style and I still do, but I've heard some nasty rumors about you. We never had a chance.

XOXO,
Alexiz
